The generally accepted duration of the inhalation procedure is 1-3 minutes for children, and about 5 minutes for adults repeated 1-2 or 2-3 times per day.

Are inhalations allowed to be performed if the child's temperature is 38°C?

Yes, you can. You can use Mesh Nebulizer AGU Minimill in different positions due to the sealed medication cup (please, see the picture); its virtually silent operation will allow you to carry out inhalation even if the baby is sleeping.

Mesh Nebulizer AGU Minimill can work on both disposable and rechargeable batteries, so it is completely mobile and you can use it even when travelling. The nebulizer will operate from a car's cigarette lighter with a properly selected AC adapter. Use only external adapters which meet the requirements of IEC 60601-1: 2005. To reduce the risk of environmental contamination, we recommend using rechargeable nickel-metal NiMH batteries of AA type (not included) instead of disposable batteries.

The lifetime of the batteries depends on their capacity and condition. Normally, the device can operate for about 4 days on two new alkaline batteries of AA type when used for 20 minutes a day. As soon as the indicator lights up in orange (batteries are running out), replace both batteries with the new ones.

Disinfection can be applied to the medication cup only. It is recommended to disinfect the medication cup after each use or once a day (in case the device is used on a daily basis) in one of the following ways:

  • Disinfection by boiling water. Rinse the medication cup with distilled water and carefully immerse it into a pot of boiling distilled water for a maximum of five (5) minutes. Carefully remove the medication cup, shake off remaining water and air-dry it on a clean, dry towel. Make sure that all cleaned parts of the unit are completely dry before you store or use them next time.
  • Disinfection by disinfectants. Rinse the medication cup with distilled water and clean it with a disinfectant solution following the instructions on the solution. How should the device be cleaned properly?

The Mesh Nebulizer AGU Minimill should be cleaned after each use. In order to clean the device, pour out the remaining medicinal solution from the medication cup and pour some distilled water in it. Turn on the device and nebulize the distilled water for 1 to 2 minutes to thoroughly clean the mesh. Then remove batteries or disconnect the AC adapter from the main unit. Remove the medication cup from the main unit, wash and rinse it with distilled water. Shake off the remaining water and air-dry the parts of the unit on a clean, dry towel. Make sure that all cleaned parts of the unit are completely dry before you store or use them next time. During the procedure, it is strictly forbidden to wash or immerse the main unit in any liquid, as well as to touch the mesh with fingers, cotton swabs or other objects. It is also forbidden to wash the parts of the device in a dishwasher or dry them in a microwave.

Why is the indicator light on the Mesh Nebulizer AGU Minimill flashing orange?

The indicator light may flash orange if the electrodes are incorrectly connected with the main unit. Clean the electrodes with rubbing alcohol and reinstall the medication cup. If this doesn’t work, replace the medication cup, as the mesh might be broken.

How should I clean the mesh and avoid its damage?

In order not to damage the mesh, please follow the care recommendations for the medication cup. Rinse the medication cup with distilled water after each inhalation the following way:

  • Pour out remaining medical solution from the medication cup.
  • Pour some distilled water in the medication cup.
  • Turn on the device and nebulize distilled water for 1 to 2 minutes to thoroughly clean the mesh.
  • Remove batteries or disconnect the AC adapter from the main unit.
  • Remove the medication cup from the main unit.
  • Wash and rinse the medication cup with distilled water.
  • Shake off the remaining water and air-dry the parts of the unit on a clean, dry towel.
  • Use a gauze or a clean towel to remove drops of water from the main unit if necessary.
  • Make sure that all cleaned parts of the unit are completely dry before you store or use them next time.

What to do if the spray intensity has decreased?

The following may be reasons for a decrease in spray  intensity  in the Mesh Nebulizer AGU – Minimill:

  • Low battery power – Replace the batteries or use an adapter (not included)
  • Mesh holes are clogged – Wash the medication cup
  • Electrodes got dirty – Clean the electrodes with rubbing alcohol

Why does the duration of inhalation vary even with the same amount of medicinal solution?

The Inhalation procedure may last longer if it is carried out with a solution of high viscosity.

What if a little liquid remains in the medication cup after inhalation? What is it: medicinal solution remnants or condensate?

Since inhalation is carried out by means of cold mist, the remnants in the medication cup are nothing but the rest of the medicinal solution. When the inhalation procedure is almost complete, make sure that the solution still contacts the mesh to be sprayed completely.

Why did the device turn off during the procedure?

The Mesh Nebulizer AGU Minimill may turn off during the procedure if a large amount of medicinal solution accumulates on the mesh. In this case disconnect the device from the socket and soak the solution with gauze or with a towel made of lint-free fabric.

How should I carry out inhalation by means of Mesh Nebulizer AGU – Minimill?

The sequence of actions depends on the kind of battery you are using.
  • Batteries - Insert the batteries with correct polarity. Then set a medication cup into the main unit by aligning the rails of the medication cup into the slots of the main unit until it clicks. Make sure that the indicator light is off and then fill the medication cup with medicinal solution (no more than 6 ml). Close the cap of the medication cup tightly. If you use a mask, place the mask over your mouth and nose. Breathe in and out slowly through your mouth until the medicine solution is finished. When the solution is almost finished, make sure that it contacts the mesh to be sprayed completely. As soon as the procedure is over, press the ON/OFF button to turn off the device, then remove the batteries, if you’re not planning to use it for a long time.
  • AC adapter - Set a medication cup into the main unit by aligning the rails of the medication cup into the slots of the main unit until it clicks. Are there any types of solutions which are prohibited to use when carrying out inhalations by means of the Mesh Nebulizer AGU – Minimill?

All prohibitions in the use of solutions are typical for this type of therapy:

  • Do not use solutions that contain essential oils. Since mist particles penetrate into lower respiratory tract (and not only to nasal mucosa), they may lead to bronchial occlusion and, consequently, to lung inflammation (lipoid pneumonia). In addition, the use of essential oils can lead to device failure.
  • Do not use tinctures, infusions or decoctions of herbs. The concentration of active substance in these solutions may vary greatly, so it is impossible to calculate the dose of medicine that must be delivered to the site of inflammation. Such inhalations at best will not have any therapeutic effect and at worst can cause severe allergic reactions. The use of these solutions may also damage the device.
  • Do not use such medicines such as diphenhydramine, papaverine, platifillin, aminophylline, systemic glucocosteroids and other drugs which can not affect mucous membranes and do not have points of application in the lungs.

Are there any restrictions on the use of solutions when carrying out inhalation by means of Mesh Nebulizer AGU – Minimill?

Nebulizer therapy can be applied only in cases where specially designed ready-made solutions for inhalation are used. It is strictly prohibited to use self comminuted tablets or medicinal syrups not intended for nebulizer therapy.
